SAMBA DE RODA
SAMBA DE RODA (Samba Circle) @ BRASIL BRASIL CULTURAL CENTER
Samba de Roda is a community celebration dance circle. We wear all white in Brazilian tradition (representing pure energy) and or bright colored clothing, women wear long skirts.
We dance in the circle in pairs, singing and clapping and cheering each other on. There are usually two to three main drummers playing atabaque (tall, wooden, Afro-Brazilian hand drum) or conga drums as well as other percussionists playing instruments such as the pandeiro (tamborine) and agogo (cow bell). Everyone is sharing energy and contributing to the roda.
